Have you seen where it takes you? What the hell, you’ll think if you’re not a fan of Marvel comics, is Annihilus? We have all the answers. Why is this URL related to the official website of Captain Marvel? Do you want to give us a clue about what is going to happen in Avengers: Endgame? Because it has all the paint. It seems that it is something that we are going to see as the end of the film or as a post-credits scene that will later gain weight in the last film of the third stage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let’s go with it.
What would happen if the last hope for the entire Universe to survive, that same Universe that has just seen half of its population die, was, precisely, Thanos, the culprit of that assassination? What would happen if he were the one who prevented a superior force, say an Annihilus, from trying to finish what was left of the Universe? We refer to that Universe by which it is supposed to feel something, because if not, in theory, it would not have done what it has done. What if in this new epic battle the Cinematic Marvel Universe was redefined? We refer to that from that struggle arose, for example, the new Guardians of the Galaxy. We refer to all the cosmic characters of Marvel, that if Nova, what if … Are we prepared for an epic story of cosmic warfare in which the old guard (Avengers and company) welcomes the characters that will star in the new Marvel phase? Are we prepared for Annihilation? What if the story arc of the second part of Avengers: Infinity War was Annihilation, the masterpiece of Keith Giffen?
Annihilation (Annihilation) is one of Marvel’s most impressive plot arcs since … Infinity War. If it were not because in that arc appear all the names that have been dropped by different products and chief bosses of Marvel, such as Nova, the intergalactic policeman.
It is clear that the Russo brothers are going to pull their own way, but just as the Infinity War saga inspired the first installment of Avengers:
Annihilation was born from the love of Marvel editor Andy Schmidt for the Marvel cosmic characters. It was Schmidt who approached Keith Giffen to tell him that the Marvel cosmic characters were untapped and had great potential. Giffen shared Schmidt’s love for the Marvel space characters so he was a desired son. Both of them, by the way, are very fond of Captain Marvel.
What is Annihilation?
In Aniquilación there are characters of the old guard who die and there are characters who get new powers.
The summarized story is this: An army of alien insects invades the Positive Zone (the Universe that has decimated Thanos) from the Negative Zone (which is where they live). They claim that the Positive Zone is growing, which is causing the Negative Zone to be reduced, forcing it to leave, so they intend to eliminate all life in the Positive Zone and take control. Normal: they were so quiet in the negative zone. In front of them is Annihilus.
The first planet they attack is Xandar, where all but one of the members of Nova Corp (a kind of intergalactic police) die and that member, who happens to be a Nova, becomes exponentially more powerful by not sharing the Nova Force. Using his improved cosmic level abilities, Nova leads an army of resistance to fight the Wave of Annihilation.
There is a war in the whole universe that involves Galactus, the Heralds of Galactus (that if Stardust, that if Firelord), Star-Lord, Drax the destroyer, Gamora, Super-Skrull, Silver Surfer and Ronan the Accuser (yes , that Ronan the Accuser), among others. During the chaos, the Skrull empire is destroyed, Ronan becomes the Emperor Kree, and Drax tears off Thanos’s heart. Nova kills Annihilus, and Silver Surfer channels enough cosmic energy to restore the Positive and Negative zones.
Thanos joins first with Annihilation, mostly out of curiosity and that of having your enemies closer than your friends. They give wax to Galactus and Silver Surfer. But then Thanos learns that it is not that they want revenge, but that they want to become the owners and masters of the Universe. And, of course, it does not happen there, that the Universe already has a cool daddy: the moraito Titan. Thanos reactivates Galactus, but since he was bad, bad, bad, he dies at the hands of Drax, who rips his heart out in an epic vignette. Galactus does the same and starts killing bad bugs right and left.
With his diminished forces, Annihilus faces Phyla, Quill and Nova. Nova charges him.
Everything is much more complicated than this, but in essence you get the idea, right?
It is clear, as we said, that it will not be the same. For starters, Thanos destroys Xandar in Avengers: Infinity War to get the Gems of Power.
Xandar, if you have not read the comics, appears in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1 as the home of the Nova Corps, which is supposed to protect the Gem of Power, the same gem that Ronan the Accuser uses to destroy Xandar.
But there is more. Annihilation follows Conquest Annihilation.
Following the annihilation, there is much to rebuild. In spite of the death of Annihilus, those that survive extend throughout the galaxy. Many generals of the Wave of Annihilation are now ruling their own planets as a result of the treaty reached between the Ronan Kree empire and the rest of the Annihilus army. The once powerful Kree Empire is left with its mutilated defenses, and the Supreme Intelligence is now dead. The Kree now fall under the leadership of Ronan. Quill is responsible for helping to rebuild Kree’s defense networks. Choosing to renounce the reconstruction of the Nova Corps until later, Richard Rider still possesses all the power of the Nova Corps and is flying from one world to the next trying to answer the distress calls from all corners of the universe. And it turns brown again,
