Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Review
Bastard!! Heavy Metal Dark FantasyThe new summer anime 2022 release from Netflix is what you get when you mix it up:
- D&D spell check
- old style metal
- Adult content.
The bastard tells the story Dark SchneiderBefore being sealed, the 400-year-old Black Mage was on a quest to dominate the world, just to have all the women in the world. Yes, Bastard!! this kind of story?

Dark Schneider was defeated and sealed in his next reincarnation, a 14-year-old boy named Lucien, who was adopted and raised with 15-year-old nun Tia Noto Yoko. Tia was taught the spell to free the Dark Schneider from Lucien if she or the Meta-Licana kingdom were in grave danger.
It just happens, then now! The Four Divine Kings, former disciples of Dark Schneider, are conquering the world and have Meta-Licana on their list. Tia must wake Dark Schneider with a kiss on her virgin lips.
Dark Schneider is a bastard, scumbag and liar.

If you want to know more about Bastard!! before I jump, I turned off Bastard!! manga and Bastard!! OVA, here.
You must watch Netflix’s Bastard!! Is it anime?
Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- not for everyone. It’s not a straight fantasy adventure. Comedy and extremely violent.
The action focuses on casting spells as opposed to sword fights, so battles consist of magic duels where characters utter words (typically metal references) and shout their names before the spell explodes on the screen. Even if the characters have swords, they usually do not trade steel, they use magic sword attacks.

Bastard!! filled with adult content; there is an element of ecchi; Dark Schneider loves sex and women, even enemies seem to have an uncontrollable urge to let Dark Schneider find his way. Expect poorly dressed clothes, hints, and tons of groping.
Netflix bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Episode 1 gets 3 out of 5
Bastard!! it was good, but a little too much for me at times with mature content. Pretty accurate for the source material (manga by Kazushi Hagiwara), so it is. Ecchi is not my thing. If it’s yours, more power for you.
I enjoyed my time with Bastard!!and although it ends with a beautiful cliffhanger, this is only part of the first season. The second installment will contain 11 more chapters that should complement the current broadcast.
Bastard!! It made me laugh and it has an interesting story with decent characters, but it made me feel a little unsatisfied as the action was pretty much all magic.
That said, I’m still interested in watching the next course and hope for a refresh of Netflix. Bastard!! for more seasons.
