Schofield’s departure: As it happened

The Terriers enjoyed a fantastic run to the Championship play-off final last season before suffering a narrow defeat to Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest.

The following summer was a tough one for Huddersfield, which saw popular manager Carlos Corberan leave after two successful campaigns with the club.

Huddersfield were then raided by eventual play-off rivals Nottingham Forest, who snapped up talented left-back Harry Toffolo and star midfielder Lewis O’Brien for a modest price.

Danny Schofield was the man chosen to replace Corberan, but a fragmented approach to the summer transfer window, combined with the difficulty of replacing O’Brien’s midfield presence, left the Terriers in a difficult position.

A late defeat to newly-promoted Wigan on Tuesday evening proved the end for Schofield as his short spell as manager of Huddersfield Town came to an end.
